Guidelines for Project

You are to choose a "famous" mathematician of your choice from the given list. With this amazing mathematician you are to complete an informative project on them. This is not to be a biography but an overview of sorts of the accomplishments and/or contributions your mathematician has done for Math and society. If you choose more than one mathematician, try to find a “common link” between them if can. Do not copy & paste random information into your project

Option #1 for Project

Option #1
You may choose to write a “traditional paper” on your mathematician. In this paper you should include relative information about your mathematicians and their works. Again, DO NOT MAKE THIS A SIMPLE BIOGRAPHY! Find a topic that you find “interesting” about your mathematician and go with it for you paper. The paper should not exceed two pages double spaced, 12pt font. Deductions will be taken off for larger fonts, shortened margins, and/or larger spacing!

Option # 2 for Project

Option #2
You may choose to do a “poster” for your mathematician. This poster should include pictures, diagrams,
descriptions, and several “inserts” for information about your mathematician(s). If you choose to do a single poster/collage for more than one of the mathematicians, the poster should be on at least a 20 x 30 poster.

Option #3 for Project

Option #3
You may choose to do a “video” presentation on your mathematician. This presentation can be a video collage of works, accomplishments, etc.
accompanied by a narration. Music can also (and is strongly suggested) be used throughout the video as a background and not the main narration. The presentation can also be done by power point. If done in power point (or similar program), then you should have a minimum of 20 slides, points will be deducted for less than 20. You should include pictures, (lots of) information, “action” slides and movie clips if possible. Sound/narration is also required. At least one sound clip of more than 10 seconds must be inserted into your power point.

Option #4 for Project

Option #4
Yet another option is for you to create something different...maybe a website or a blog. This should be extremely creative being that you have the entire internet available for your use. You can make a separate page for each of your mathematicians and have them link back to a central page. BE CREATIVE!!! Embed video/sound clips, power points, pictures, etc. within your website.

If you have an idea that is different than any of these, check with me to make sure it "fits" within the project....chances are it will. HAVE FUN!

Due Date

This project is due in to me by January 29th. You may submit the project in to me by way of email, physically bringing it in to me, or letting me know the website address.  This project is to be completed on your time so please plan appropriately and manage your time wisely.

Grading

The more elaborate and unique your project is, the better your grade. Do not make this a “same old same old” project, make it interesting. Find something you did not know about before and “show the world.” Be creative. If you desire to do your project in another format not given above, let me know and I am sure we can make it work. Put this project together as if I was going to display all of them to the school or on the internet, which may happen.

Grading for the project (listed for a single mathematician)

Originality/uniqueness…………………………………………10 points

Sufficient content (not all just pictures and quotes)……………20 points

Accuracy of facts………………………………………………20 points

Neatness………………………………………………………..10 points

“Interestingness”……………………………………………….15 points
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL…………………………………………………………75 points

HAVE FUN & GOOD LUCK!!!

Class List

I will be sending out a Google Doc to each of you in the next few days.  Open the document once you have found your mathematician you would like to complete your project on and then write them in the space provided beside your name.  This will be on a first-come-first-to-choose basis so do not procrastinate or you may not be able to select your chosen mathematician.
